Breather Filters

What Are Breather Filters Used For?

Breather filters are used in many cases. Their function isn't exactly the same as an intake filter. They are more commonly used they are used to help relieve the crankcase ventilation pressure within the engine or for catch cans to release excess pressure while filtering contaminants.

They allow air to flow out of the system while preventing dirt and debris from entering, ensuring clean and stable engine operation. Other systems could be any other type of remote-mounted fluid reservoirs that need to vent themselves.

In high level drift builds, for example, plenty of cars have quick change differentials that have a remote-mounted reservoir where mechanics can fill the differential with gear oil remotely instead of having to get underneath the car.

Why Should I Use a Breather Filter for My Engine?

A breather filter helps maintain proper pressure balance inside the system it is being used for.

Without proper ventilation, pressure can build up in the crankcase, which may lead to oil leaks, reduced performance, or engine damage. A breather filter ensures controlled airflow and supports reliable engine operation, especially in turbocharged or high-performance setups.

Some Things to Know About Breather Filters

Use breather filters with caution. If you know the system they are being applied to sees a lot of pressure, fluids can leak out of these filters. They are filters after all, they don't seal the system. Depending on the fluid used, and especially if it's something like oil, this can be a fire risk if oil spits out of these filters and lands on something to ignite it. Just keep that in mind!

Why Are BOOST Products Breather Filters the Best Choice?

BOOST Products breather filters are designed for high performance and durability.

They offer high airflow capacity while maintaining effective filtration, even under extreme conditions. The robust construction ensures long-term reliability, while the compact design allows easy installation in various setups.

With their subtle all-black design, they integrate cleanly into any engine bay without distracting from other components!
